NABC 2011 Day 1 Highlights

The 31st Banga Sammelan got underway at the Baltimore Convention Center today July 1, 2011. The inauguration was attended by several dignitaries including Hon. Ambassdor of India to USA, Ms Meera Shankar and MontgomeryCounty Executive Ike Leggett. Like the previous editions, prabasi Bengalis thronged the Convention Center for their annual adda, cultural excursion and shopping extravaganza. The pening ceremony, choreographed by Kalyan Sen Barat did not quite match up to the dazzling and imaginative performances one has seen in recent past. A technical glitch caused the program to pause for few minutes. Performances by Srikanto Acharya, Pramita Mallick, Jayati Chakraborty were the ighlights of the evening. BanglaPodcast presented a tribute to the late flimmaker Raj Basu.
